Junior Coaching at Banstead
Our junior coaching programme is at the heart of everything we do for young players at Banstead Downs. Led by our team of LTA-accredited coaches, sessions are designed to develop technique, tactical awareness, and a genuine enjoyment of the game.
From complete beginners picking up a racket for the first time through to county-level juniors looking to sharpen their competitive edge, we offer a structured and progressive pathway that meets every child where they are. Coaching runs throughout the year in term-time blocks, with additional holiday camps and match-play opportunities during the school breaks.

For every age and stage
Junior Programmes
We offer a range of programmes tailored to different age groups and abilities, following the LTA's progressive pathway from Mini Tennis through to full-court competition. Each programme is designed to build confidence, improve skills, and keep young players engaged and active throughout the year.
Mini Tennis (Ages 3–8)
An introduction to tennis using smaller courts, lighter rackets, and softer balls. Mini Tennis helps the youngest players develop coordination, movement, and ball skills in a fun, game-based environment.
Junior Development (Ages 9–12)
Building on the fundamentals, this programme introduces rallying, scoring, and match play on mid-size and full-size courts. Players develop consistency, shot selection, and begin to understand game strategy.
Teen Performance (Ages 13–17)
For aspiring competitors, our teen sessions focus on advanced technique, tactical play, physical conditioning, and mental resilience. Players are encouraged to enter club tournaments and represent the club in inter-club leagues.
Holiday Camps
During school holidays we run multi-day tennis camps packed with coaching, games, and competitions. Camps are open to members and non-members alike and are a brilliant way to keep juniors active and improving.
